For several years I’ve wanted to take a steamboat ride but the timing was never right. This past Saturday, B.D. and I (with Funshine safely buckled up) hit the road to Marietta.
The only disappointment – and it was minor – to the day was that I thought we would be riding a ship similar to this one, with a young Neil Diamond as the captain. However, it appears the Becky Thatcher has been retired.
Instead of an old time steamboat, we rode a paddleboat and I don’t know (or care) what the captain looked like. The trip was still relaxing and invigatoring at the same time.
For ninety minutes, we cruised down the Mighty Ohio, turning at the end of an island onto the West Virginia side. We stood at the back so that we could enjoy the water spray.
This rainbow was an expected bonus.
All too soon, we were headed back to port.
Miss Monroe’s portrait graced the floor of the tunnel going to/from the dock.
On the way home we stopped to see #1 Son & Family. #1 Grandson the Younger was engrossed in an episode of Spongebob so B.D. and I were introduced to Gary and Patrick.
